Privacy Policy

Two kinds of people use MyStoryAbout, and we collect different information from each:

Campaign owners create an account, connect a Google Drive, and set up campaigns to collect stories.

Storytellers visit a campaign link or QR code and record or upload a video story. Storytellers never create an account.

From campaign owners: your name, email address, and login credentials (managed by our authentication provider); your Google account connection, limited to the permission described in Section 4; the campaigns you create (titles, descriptions, prompts, cover photos); and standard billing information if paid features are introduced in the future (handled by a payment processor — we would not store card numbers).

From storytellers: the name and email address you choose to provide (you may submit anonymously, in which case we do not require either); any context note you write (for example, how you knew the person the campaign is about); your consent confirmation; and technical details about your submission (file size, duration, date, and time). Your video itself is transferred directly to the campaign owner's Google Drive and is not stored by us.

From everyone, automatically: basic technical information such as IP address, browser and device type, and pages visited. We use this to operate, secure, and improve the Service. We use only essential cookies required for the Service to function (such as keeping campaign owners logged in). We do not use advertising cookies.

We do not store or host video files. We do not view submitted videos in the ordinary course of operating the Service. We do not sell your personal information to anyone. We do not use your information or your videos to train artificial intelligence models. We do not run third-party advertising on the Service.

When a campaign owner connects Google Drive, we request Google's most limited Drive permission (the drive.file scope). This allows MyStoryAbout to create folders and upload files only within folders the app itself creates. We cannot see, open, modify, or delete anything else in your Drive.

We use this access solely to create a folder for each campaign and to transfer submitted story videos into it. Access tokens are stored securely, are never exposed in the browser, and are used only to perform these functions. You can disconnect MyStoryAbout from your Google account at any time from your account settings or from your Google account's security settings, which immediately revokes our access. Videos already in your Drive are unaffected — they are yours.

MyStoryAbout's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

We use the information described above to operate the Service (creating campaigns, generating links and QR codes, transferring videos to Drive, and showing campaign owners their submission dashboards); to communicate with campaign owners about their accounts and campaigns; to maintain security, prevent abuse, and debug problems; and to comply with legal obligations.

With campaign owners: when you submit a story to a campaign, the campaign owner receives your video (in their Drive) along with the name, email, and context note you provided (or an "anonymous" designation if you chose that). The campaign owner — not StorySafe, LLC — controls what happens to your video after that, consistent with the consent you gave at submission.

With service providers: we use a small number of vendors to run the Service (such as hosting, authentication, and database infrastructure). They process data only on our instructions and only as needed to provide their services to us.

For legal reasons: we may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or other legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of users, the public, or the Service.

In a business transfer: if StorySafe, LLC is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction. Because your videos live in your own Google Drive, they would not be part of any such transfer.

When you submit a story, you are sharing it with the campaign owner, who agreed at submission time may use it for purposes like tribute videos and social media. If you later want your video removed or your consent withdrawn, contact the campaign owner directly, since the video lives in their Drive — or contact us at support@mystoryabout.com and we will delete the submission metadata we hold and make reasonable efforts to help you reach the campaign owner.

We keep account information while your account is active and submission metadata while the related campaign exists. Campaign owners may delete campaigns or their entire account at any time, which deletes the associated data from our systems (videos in Google Drive are unaffected and remain under the owner's control). Storytellers may request deletion of their submission metadata at any time by emailing support@mystoryabout.com. We may retain limited records where required by law.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. We honor reasonable requests from anyone, regardless of location. To exercise any of these rights, email support@mystoryabout.com. We will respond within 30 days. We will never discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.

We use industry-standard measures to protect the information we hold, including encryption in transit, secure token storage, and access controls that ensure campaign owners can only see their own campaigns and submissions. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security — but by design, the most sensitive content (your videos) never touches our servers at all.

MyStoryAbout accounts are for adults 18 and older. Storytellers must be at least 13 years old; storytellers under 18 should submit only with the consent and involvement of a parent or legal guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has submitted information to the Service, contact us at support@mystoryabout.com and we will delete it.

MyStoryAbout is operated from the United States, and information we hold is processed in the United States. If you use the Service from outside the U.S., you understand that your information will be transferred to and processed in the U.S.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify campaign owners by email or by a notice on the Service before the changes take effect, and we will update the effective date above.
